A couple of my friends were looking forward to seeing my reactions to Torwood: COE through my upsoiled American eyes. I think I disappointed them by not posting a daily squeee/rant. So here is a reaction post. However, it has aired in both countries and is all over the net. I was raised with manners so...

Day Two

What can I say; nothing outstanding happened in this day, IMO. It was rather dry. It was a transition day, and it came off that way. I have to admit double gun wielding Gwen was somewhat cool, large change from the Gwen that did not know how to wield a gun at all.

The most gruesome and moving part is the idea that Jack grows back from an arm a head and part of a shoulder? My god! Then seeing that musculature thing that is Jack screaming in agony? Awful!!! Yet on a totally side note. Kudos to me, Jack does not just instantly heal everything! My fic Triage is no longer so AU in my mind, it seems very plausible that Owen would have killed him if he were seriously injured, until he, (Owen had repaired the damage, rather then let him go through trauma like that). Anyway, oh God images of Jack like that shudders.

Oh and Concrete? Freaking Concrete on top of that? RTD had it in for Jack this season didn't he. Love that Ianto dropped him over a cliff that was great. At the time though, I literally went, "Oh that is gonna hurt!” Oh come on Gwen you averted your eyes, yeah right. Okay I would have to...and turned beet red.

I love Louis, she is inquisitive. And cautious. I understand why they wanted to get rid of Torchwood but they really shouldn't have. They needed Torchwood at the time. Sheesh.



I also love the fact that it was Ianto's nephew that informed his father the note would be from his uncle and the house would be bugged. Out of the mouth of babes huh?

Day Three

Now things got interesting again. I have to say the opening of this one was great. Ianto Jones comes through again. He is the one that finds them a base of operations a home. And of course it’s a Torchwood facility. Doesn’t matter that they don’t use it anymore. Or that technically belonged to Torchwood One. Its Torchwood’s their Torchwood its theirs. Its great, and so nothing. Perfect, it made me smile.

Then Jack just couldn’t keep your mouth shut could ya. Had to let Rhys knew you knew she was pregnant didn’t ya, and that you knew before him. That had me laughing and shaking my head. So him.

I love Gwen and the lets be criminals routine. The cop teaching the bookworm and the *snort snort* intergalactic con-man how to pick pockets, snatch cars, and steal laptops. Poor Gwen has no idea that Jack could run circles around her. Rose and the Doctor would be falling over in gales of laughter to see that.

I love how Johnny turns the curfew into a way to turn a profit. I can’t believe that Jack didn’t think to contact Alice and tell him he was okay after the explosion of the Rift and Hub was all over the TV.

Alice was smart enough not to use her own Phone to ask about info on Jack, but didn’t think to use one further from her home???? Didn’t Jack or her mother teach her anything. They obviously did, because she and her son had practiced running away in the night.

I love Ianto coming in with supplies and the “I’m back”. The contacts are fabulous. I love Louis more and more.

“He’s just a civil servant, He’s nothing.” Ouch.

“What did you feel like like. Wasn’t the best of days.,…. Ectera that whole scene is awesome!!!!!! Love that whole exchange.

Love Ianto’s “The world is always ending. I’ll have my second.” … “ Thirty” ….”Beans” Anyone want to head slap Rhys? How bloody oblivious could he be?


Louis louis what a overdone way to get there. Boss’s Mistress??? Well if it works I guess?

Day Four

We finally get a explanation for something we’ve only seen bits and pieces and flashes of before. I still can’t believe Jack did this, but for an anti-virus for the Spanish flu? Or something that could devastate the same way it did? The price 12 children. I don’t know… Do you sacrifice 12 to save millions? We do it all the time in war. That’s Essentially what this was germ warfare. The only difference is its not children- or at least I sure to God hope not.

I can sit here in my comfy chair looking at this hypothetically and think, there is no way in hell. I would fight to death to save my children and my child. And if it was my child or a large number of children I would. But the Gods truth. If it were 12 nameless faceless children that didn’t have homes or families anyway, and millions would survive. I do not know. Individually, myself I’d rather die, but make faced with the lives of millions also I might give them the children.

Now however, they’ve come back and they want more, much more. If we don’t give them to them they won’t wipe out a portion of our race they will wipe us all out? Surprisingly this makes it a hell of a lot easier.

Well then there is nothing to lose. You’re going to take my children, you’re going to do that to them and if I say no you’re threatening to kill my whole planet anyway???? Easy. Pease, I’d use the valiant find their ship tell it to east a few nuc’s and flood the “chamber with good old 100% pure oxygen” basically a big old BITE ME!!!!

I love the way Torchwood stands up to them. That Louis stands up to them, that she says “Torchwood” almost like she’s trying out being part of them.

Ianto telling whoever was listening to them to forget the official secret’s act was perfect.

Iantos last scene of defiance with Jack and the 456 was perfect. They killed him RTD fucking killed him. The death scene was great though.

I got to ask though, can he not write a impactful, scene series without killing beloved characters????

Let’s see. ROSE, DONNA, TOSH, OWEN, IANTO…. I begin to see a crutch here.

Day Five

Go Alice having faith in your father.
Go Gwen and Rhys saving those children, and going to keep saving them to till the end.
OMG Jack sacrificed his grandson, that’s it RTD and the writers fucking have it in for that character this series.
Alice, I understand your hate and hurt, but what else could your father have done. Would you rather all those children have gone to that terrible fate as living drugs. And now it looks like if you ever do forgive your father he will never no. And part of me understands if you never do forgive your father.

That last scene between Gwen and Jack was great and yet. Jack is just running away. That is cowardly Jack very cowardly. I would say what would the Doctor do, but he did the exact same thing, so instead I will say, “What would ROSE say?”

You know what? This series was GREAT, and I have to agree with RTD it does make an absolutely fabulous finale for the show.

If he ends up making another season, I am not sure it would be TORCHWOOD for me.
Though I love Louis.

Things I never could figure out, who that woman in black was that was destroying Torchwood, who does she really work for?

Torchwood technically can’t be destroyed by civil service. I mean they are created and payed by the crown. And I know many people say the Monarchy is nothing more then a figure head and the real power is in parliament and the prime minister, but that is just it. They are supposed to be ‘beyond the government’ the only ones they are suppose to answer to really was the monarch- if that. I thought. If Torchwood is needed anytime its now.

Also they conveniently explained why the doctor didn’t show up. But being the who fan that I am. There is a part of me that wants to know honeymoon or no honeymoon why Martha Jones wasn’t knee deep in this somehow, and where was Sarah Jayne. You know neither of them would have taken this lying down. I know it’s a completely Torchwood plot, I’m just saying.

This is a very long post. Now I want to write a story, that I am afraid to write. It might anger the British fans....
